Hi there....

Well, we now have a group of 'foodies' :-) If there are any more people you think might like to join us please invite them.
As it stands at the moment we will work in a japanese fold using one side for the food illustration and the reverse side for the recipe.
I know that it is a very busy time of year for a lot of people and we have to get our molys ordered etc, so how does the new year sound for our first posting? I won't mind if you can get your books out earlier tho....... I will look at the order of posting closer to the time.
I am looking forward to a tasty exchange..... :-)

Excellent. I bought an extra notebook 10 days ago not knowing what would go in it. Now I know. :) I'll have to rifle through my old catering notebooks and come up with some juicy recipes for folks. Basil pesto chicken salad? Sweet & sour sauce for grilled swordfish? My great-grandmother's brownies? :)

yey! I'm excited to see how this will unfold. I'm thinking of drawing maybe an appetizer; soup/stew; salad/side; entree; bread/sandwich; pasta; desert; and beverage. thats eight, one for each book.

Could I ask a question? Where can I see the full images of the past Moly editions?

Morissa said...

coulorful rabbit- if you go to the main page of MolyX on flickr, at the bottom there are links to all of the different moly blogs where people post their work as they do it. you can also see work in the molyx pool.
i hope that answered your question!

and who wants to set up the mailing order? i think it should go hong kong to USA's to Canada to UK's.
just a thought...

my mouth is watering already!

once we have a few books started we can look at the postal order, I am willing in this group to change the 'order' idea, all that matters is that each artist gets a go in each book.

I am in several exchanges and have found that the 'order' has put a complete stop on moly movement, where someone holds onto their book for months, or doesn't even start their book and we are all stuck in limbo........ so perhaps we all start posting only when we all have done our pages, or we post to the person who has finished their book at the same time as us, this way the order will be established in the first round. Tell me what you think of this....

Thanks you very much for the info, Morissa! Now I can see some of the works from moly books.
As I read this brog, I started to realise we are doing 8 copies of food books? Initially I thought we are just exchanging one. But it's fine though. Just wanted to be ensured. :-)

I like the idea of determining the order based on who finishes around the same time.

Are we going to do one page (front and back) at a time so we end up with more recipes? We could also do 2 or 3 pages at a time, but 1 per page—this would cut down on the postage.

We will be working in a japanese fold moleskine, with the number of members we have it gives us 3 - 4 pages each to work on....how you want to fill your pages will be up to each artist but the idea is to have the image on the front and the recipe on the reverse of each persons 3 - 4 pages. Some recipes will be long and involved, others may be short and sweet.

This exchange will be one complete round and not go back for another as our books will be filled, so postage costs should be reasonable.
if you would like to do many recipes or just one on your pages it will be left to each artist to decide...

I like Jenns idea of it looking like a banquet and I am really looking forward to trying some of the recipes too.....

Excellent, thanks.

Hey AzureGranckle, glad that you can make use of your extra notebook here ;) I also have to buy an extra for both here and moly_x_41 this weekend~

Oh Colorful Rabbit, I think we both are in the same case for I just get a reminder from moly_x_4 each one of us has to prepare a notebook instead of exchanging just one :p We are too fresh hehe~

Morissa, thanks for your mailing order suggestion, it sounds great. But i also think that what Lynne suggested may be even better. As I often found from the moly exchange forum that people may have chance to hold up few moly at the same period.

Lynne, your order-free exchange idea is great and effective. I think it is very possible if we have enough communication via this blog :) But I am not sure Marty's idea as this will then be a bit away from this original rule :p

Enjoy a good weekend all you guys~

Thank you for the explanations, everyone.... I'm starting to get the rule and hopefully I'll be ok... but do I need to buy the japanese fold moleskin notebook, or do somebody purchase at once? I'm confused...!
So in terms of the images, we just do 1-3 food images (short ones or a long one depending on each artists) and in the back we draw the recipes? I'm quite worried if I'll do the right thing if I have to start one myself...!

Colourful Rabbit said...

Very sorry I'm such a pain, I think we all buy our own moleskin book right? Please could you tell me where you buy one? X

Lynne said...

Hi Sachiko we each buy our own moleskine, I order mine from amazon, but some waterstones stores stock them....please don't worry about anything, we are here for fun :-)

Colourful Rabbit said...

Thanks a lot, Lynne, I shall buy one then!

Hi all. I also like lynne's send order idea, as we get a chance to draw beside different artists input each time. So does it mean we should have everyones mailing address, then cross out names once the book has passed on to you? I already have a book and thinking of my sign in page. happy weekend everyone.

Morissa said...

yes, lynne's mailing order is a good idea. i should be getting my new moly in the mail any day now! so excited to start!! do you think we should all message eachother our addresses on flickr to keep them safe and private? i think i rather do that than leave them in comments. what do you all think?

Lynne said...

please do not put your address on the blog..... I think perhaps it would be safer to send them to me and I will put them all in a block email.....

Great to see such an active group. I look forward to getting recipes from everyone.
I like your idea lynne for the mail out order that way things keep moving. Also I agree not to post your addresses here you dont want just anyone to have your address. Sending them to lynne and having her mail them all to us works great.
